I began my career with a foundation in traditional fine arts. As an Assistant Professor at the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois, I taught painting and drawing at the graduate level and exhibited my work professionally. My interest in digital imagery was sparked by early experiments at the NCSA (National Center for Supercomputing Applications) at the University of Illinois.
I expanded my horizons beyond academia and became a creative consultant. My work capitalized on my growing interest in computer graphics. I collaborated with international clients, contributing to various projects including product launches for Intel and designing packaging for Lotus Software, which was then a leading software company.
As a Creative Director, I spearheaded new product development and trade show exhibits for major corporations such as Eli Lilly, Anheuser-Busch, Cargill, Dell Computer and Ralston Foods.
Later, as a co-owner and partner at MindActive in St. Louis, I focused on digital media, 3D animation, web marketing, and mobile communications. My portfolio also includes extensive work in video production and documentary film-making.
Over the past 25 years, the field of graphic technology has undergone significant transformations, marked by profound advancements and increased complexity. Despite these changes, I have remained committed to the timeless traditions of fine art. My recent projects blend state-of-the-art computer visualization with scientific detail and a deep appreciation for the physical and formal qualities of painting and drawing.
